My year in books- 2016

my year in books 2016, a christmas carol charles dickens pretty cover, spark joy mari kondo

In 2016 I rediscovered the joy of reading books. Well, I actually discovered this already in 2015 while I lived in Finland. However, I made it my personal goal to continue reading in 2016. Now in the last week of 2016 I can say that this resolution worked out just fine. I read 32 books in total this year which is 260% more than was originally my goal!

Below you can see which books I read and how I rated them on a scale from 1-5 right after finishing them. Normally I give four stars to a good book, three when it was just enjoyable reading but nothing special, five if it was the most amazing book ever and two when I didn’t like the book. I read both fiction as well as non fiction books, self help and thriller, romance and business books. I love the variety of all the books I read and it might just be that your next favorite book is in the list below.

Now I am reading this list again I think that We were Liars was my absolute favorite of 2016 in Fiction books and Opgeruimd (The life changing magic of tidying up) my favorite in Non-Fiction books. I know this last book didn’t get the five stars some other non-fiction books got, but I think that this book has made the largest impact on my life and my thinking.

I am looking forward to a new year of reading. Any recommendations for books I can’t miss in 2017?
